Hello lovelies!
It's time for another Tri-Polish Challenge post and I don't have an intro today so....
Let's get to the nails!
Yesterday's nail art was mostly triangles and today's is mostly rectangles....shapes are cool, I guess?
Here's what I used:
This month's colors still aren't winning me over. I feel like this design belongs on a carpet in an Elementary school classroom...which I guess is kind of fitting as these are a recreation of this painting that was used to teach Kindergarteners....so I guess it works, NAILED IT! (All pun intended)! (;
These nails started with 3 coats of My Vampire Is Buff and a layer of HK Girl. Then using a small detail brush, I painted on the rectangle shapes using the other polishes shown above. When those had dried, I used a striping brush and the black acrylic paint to add the lines. Everything was sealed in another layer of HK Girl.
The original painting kind of reminded me of a kind of deconstructed Mondrian painting which is pretty neat! I still think it belongs on a carpet in an classroom but you know, it's alright, this one's for the kids haha.
Make sure to check below for more primary colored nails and thanks for reading guys!
-Marisa! (:
I really like this... it's so you if that makes any sense. And guess what? I did a Mondriaan inspired mani too... just still have to edit photos etc.
ReplyDeleteVery cook design! Kind of reminds me of a geometric print I've seen.
ReplyDeleteNailed It! haha! I love this mani, actually. I guess there is a reason that primary colors are so striking, our brain just likes looking at them!
ReplyDeleteIt does remind me of abstract art, love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Primary colors always do make me think of kids, but in a good way! I think they are fun to do occasionally. I did a dotticure with primary colors once that accidentally ended up looking like Wonderbread...LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell it is pretty much back to school time for a lot of places so I say this is very fitting for this time of year. You did a great job free handing those rectangles. Mine would have turned into blobs.
ReplyDeleteI really like how this turned out! It's a bold look. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the colors used in this mani, they are bold and the design looks fun!
ReplyDeleteI think it is really striking! It does remind me of Mondrian but not too obviously. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHaha really, I guess I can see that! I saw your nails, they looked great! (:
ReplyDeleteThank you and whatever that design is, I think I should probably paint it on my nails haha!
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteHaha I agree! I think I'll be set on primary colored manicures for a while after the month. I've been so afraid to do a dotticure for this month's challenge for that exact reason haha!
ReplyDeleteThat is true! I wish these nails made going back to school easier haha. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you! (:
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteI like that the design has enough there that people think of him but it's different enough to not be a direct copy. So thank you!
ReplyDeleteI had to take 2 years of different art history courses, which is probably the only reason I know some painters haha. But if you do think of what you were thinking about let me know!
ReplyDeleteYes! "Mondriaan, you're drunk, go home..." was the first thing that sprung to mind when I saw this ;)
