52 Week Challenge: Abstract Cedar Waxwing

Hello!

Look, two posts! It's been a while since I've done this but I had some time to write another post up for you guys.

So, onto the nails!

I might be on a bit of a geometric kick right now.....maybe.....

Here's what I used:

This week's themes for the 52 Week Challenge are wild animals and yellow. I ended up combining the themes and coming up with this abstract look based off a Cedar Waxwing. Which if you don't know what that is, don't worry, I didn't know either! I guess it's a bird in Canada and the US? I liked the colors so I put them on my nails (:

These nails started off with two coats of Zoya's Pippa. Then using a makeup sponge, I added the gradient with Arizona, Siena, and Pippa and sealed everything in with a layer of HK Girl. I used some straight Nail Vinyls to tape off the triangles and filled those in with Black Out. The white lines were done with my striping brush and acrylic paint. Everything was finished with a layer of HK Girl.

This look is a bit abstract....okay, maybe a lot abstracted but I think these work!  The yellow and orange gradient was so bright and cheerful looking, I was a bit sad to cover it up but I like the overall look of these! Let me know what you think!

Thanks for reading guys!

  2. Looks great! I love geometric designs so keep them coming :) I haven't done my nails in a while. I've been stressed and have been picking at them more than normal. Waiting for them to heal a bit now, lol.

  3. I'm a weirdo who used to read the Audubon Society Handbook on Birds when I was a kid, so YES I DO know what a Cedar Waxwing is and I think they are so pretty! I think your mani is beautiful!
