52 Week Challenge: The Historian

Hello lovelies!

How is your day going so far? I don't really know what to write today so we're going to hope this post comes out alright haha. I fell asleep at like 7pm last night because I wasn't feeling well, and I woke up at 4am this morning. Weird, right? I'm wide awake but kind of just feeling blah. I'm hoping that coffee helps because I have a lot I want to get done!

Anyways, onto the nails!

I feel like I don't wear brown nail polish enough. Which, actually, it's been almost a month since I last posted brown nails....and I don't know where I was going with that...so okay, yeah, moving on!

Here's what I used:

This week's themes for the 52 Week Challenge are books and brown. I decided to do nail art inspired by the book, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. The book cover has a face on it but I've never attempted to paint a face on my nails before so I improvised.

These nails started with two coats of My Vampire Is Buff, which I let dry. Then using the watercolor technique (dab some polish on and move it around with a paintbrush dipped in acetone), I added the other brown polishes on. That was sealed in with a layer of HK Girl. When that dried, I used a straight Nail Vinyl to block off the stripe and I added You Don't Know Jacques!. The pink lines were added on with acrylic paint and my striping brush. Everything was finished with another layer of HK Girl.

These nails aren't something that I would usually wear but I like them. Book covers are turning out to be a really good source of nail art inspiration!

Thanks for reading guys!

-Marisa! (:

  10. When I first saw this I thought it reminded me of fancy chocolate. Like the wrapping for a decadent piece of candy. Is that weird? It's totally weird but I'm fine with that :p
