It's Halloween! I only have one class today but I probably won't do anything considering I have 8am class tomorrow /: Ah well, I'm not really one who is super into the Halloween festivities anyways. But today is the final day of the Tri-Polish Challenge for October!
On to the nails!
Pumpkins! This was the only remotely Halloween like manicure I did, so I saved it for today haha!
It's Wednesday and I get to spend my whole day reshooting a bunch of video for a project because it came out horrible the first time! Woo! -_- Anyways, today is day 17 of the 33 Day Challenge! Holy cow haha!
Here are the nails!
Colors! I love how graphic these nails are with everything outlined in black.
I'm back again today with manicure #3 for this month's Tri-Polish Challenge! But first, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ROOMMATE KRYSTAL! I know she sometimes reads my blog but she was the one who kind of encouraged me to start this blog, so she gets a birthday shout out! (: I actually bought her Lucky 13 Lacquer's Are You My Mummy? since she's a big Doctor Who fan, I've never actually watched it but it's on my list of shows to get to eventually haha.
Anyways, on to the nails!
Remember that this month's colors are yellow, green, and orange. I wanted some simple striped nails (did you catch that alliteration, ehhh? (; ) so thats's what I did haha!
*Insert compliant about it being Monday* You all knew that was coming! I might be Monday but I finally feel better! I had to cancel my plans for the weekend but I spent my time painting my nails and trying to get ahead on homework. So, it was a decent weekend. I hope you had a good one! I'm back today with day 16 of the 33 Day Challenge! And I'm super excited about these nails! So no more talking!
Eek, nails!
I'm so happy with these nails, you have absolutely no idea!
A full week of challenge nails! I'm actually pretty happy with every thing that was posted this week. I loved my Chinese nails, I'm finally getting to a point of comfortableness with my detail brushes and it can only improve from here! You guys were a big fan of my dotty stripe nails, so thank you for that! I played a lot with mixing acetone and nail polish together to create my abstract and watercolor nails. It's a cool technique, you should totally try it!
I'm actually super excited for what I have coming to the blog this upcoming week, so make sure to check it out! I might be sick again but I'm pushing through to show you guys some stuff that I'm really proud of! This week will be full of challenge nails again, so be ready!
Here are the upcoming prompts for the 33 Day Challenge:
Today's song:
Mansions - Talk Talk Talk
Also, quick question. Is anyone planning on participating in next month's Tri-Polish Challenge? I've noticed fewer and fewer people have been doing it. Let me know if you are!
I totally scheduled this post for the wrong time haha. Whoops! We're just going to use the fact that I'm sick and totally out of it as an excuse, okay? Haha. Mehh! Well, it's Friday! I just need to make it through until 3:30 and then I can get some sleep! But on to the nails!
Today is day 15 of the 33 Day Challenge! Here are my nails!
It's almost the weekend! Woo! And guess who is getting sick! This girl! Again. 2nd time in 2 months. Seriously. As if this past week hasn't been stressful enough meh. 2 of my roommates were sick so I guess it was bound to happen. I'm hoping for a peaceful weekend aka paint my nails, sleep, and cram all my homework on Sunday night haha. But anyways, I'm back today with my 2nd Tri-Polish manicure for this month!
Here are my nails!
I had to do watercolors nails! You all know I had to, it's my favorite nail art! (:
Thank you everyone who left kind words on my post yesterday, you guys are so sweet! I actually decided to spend Tuesday after all my classes and meetings just relaxing. It was nice! My nap accidentally turned into me falling dead asleep for 4 hours haha. But then I just spent the night watching Jurassic Park 3 and painting my nails. It was a much needed break from school work!
Anywho, 33 Day Challenge is back today! Here are my nails!
Poppy colors gone grunge? I might be in art school mode right now haha.
Okay, so before we get into today's post, I just want to tell a little story. I hope you don't mind. Yesterday I went to the mall by myself, blah blah blah, cool. But when I got back on campus, I accidentally hit someone's car and knocked their side view mirror so hard that it was dangling. I didn't know what to do so I called my dad and walked back to the car, leaving my name and number. Turns out the guy is a professor at my school and it's his sons car (who was using something to hold the mirror on). He told me that he appreciated my honesty and not to worry about it. He also told me that he's an attorney and that if I ever needed anything in the future to give him a call. The second we got off the phone, I started crying so hard and shaking. I've never hit another car before and was so scared that it was going to be a mean person and that I was going to have to pay for them to fix it. This just proves to me that there are still genuinely nice people still in the world and that not everything sucks. I'm still shaking as I type this and I apologize for this long intro but I'm so grateful to this man. I want to make him a card or send him something, anyone have any ideas?
Sorry about that, but I just needed to get that out. But today is the beginning of the Tri-Polish Challenge!
So ON TO THE NAILS!
Bright colors! Fall colors-ish! I don't really know what to say sooooo....
It's Monday and this is my first full week of classes since I got back from Minneapolis. Boo! All of my professors kind of just threw new projects on us when we got back, so not fun. But anyways, I'm back again today with day 13 of the 33 Day Challenge!
Anyways on to the nails!
Chinese porcelain nails! I'm actually really proud of these nails!
I'm back again with a 2nd post today! Wow haha. But I've been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award!! So exciting!
Thank you to Brethil from Druid Nails and Laura from Lucky Lucky Lacquer for nominating me! I'm honored! If you don't follow these two ladies, go do it! They're both amazing!
Let's get into it!
The Rules:
Thank the person who nominated you.
Include a link to their blog.
Select 15 new blogs/bloggers that you've recently discovered or follow regularly.
Nominate those bloggers for a Versatile Blogger Award, leave a link to their page and let them know they've been nominated.
Tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
Now I have to tell you 7 things about myself. Oh man, I'm horrible at this haha!
I'm obsessed with dinosaurs (you would know this if you read my about me, but shush haha). This stems from my love for the Jurassic Park books and movies (the books are better!). You know somethings bad when people refer to you as "dinosaur girl" haha. I own a few dinosaurs shirts, necklaces, I have a Jurassic Park banner in my room, and I have little dinosaur toys scattered around my room haha
I'm probably one of the worst procrastinators you will ever meet. I have a tendency to leave all of my homework to the last minute, for example, I did most of my midterm projects and studying in 2 nights last week. Fun times haha.
I'm a Graphic and Median design major. I enjoy making illustrations/graphics along with packaging design. I actually designed everything for my blog and then put it into a blogger template. I'm learning website design now though, and I've been thinking about trying to design my page from scratch but we'll see about that haha.
I have a dog named Penny! But she lives back home in Syracuse and I haven't seen her in almost 2 months ):
I have 2 tattoos! I have a traditional style wolf on my right foot and the song lyric, "I am the monster you created" on my left foot. A lot of people are shocked when they see them because I normally dress pretty girly and wear bows, but I love traditional style tattoos and want more!
I suffer from sleeping problems. This isn't a fun fact but it's something I've never really mentioned on the blog. I'm not going to say I have insomnia but most nights I can't fall asleep before 3-4am, which really sucks when you have 8am class. And lately, I haven't even been able to fall asleep when trying to take a nap.
I'm actually pretty shy and quiet in person until I feel comfortable with someone. I have pretty sever social anxiety and talking to people sometimes makes me extremely nervous. If I get really nervous my brain kind of just shuts down and I can't formulate words, it's pretty bad. But I've been getting better with this, going to the AIGA conference has definitely helped. I went up and introduced myself to one of my favorite designers by myself!! This is something I'm working on and I think having this blog has helped me put myself out there, even if it's behind a computer. (:
And I ranted through that, sorry haha!
And now I get to nominate people! This part is so hard for me haha! But here we go!
This past week was a good week! I'm extremely happy with 4 out of the 5 manicures I posted this, I'm still a little iffy about my flower nails but it's okay haha. I tried galaxy nails for the first time and absolutely loved them! I think my 3D manicure was my favorite of the week though. I've been wanting to do a cream to black gradient forever and then the neon studs contrasted great against them. Everything I posted was a win in my book! (:
Hey, Darling Polish! also turned 2 months old this week! Woo! I never thought that in 2 months I would have meet so many awesome people and decided to take part in challenges, but I'm happy with where the blog is at and where's its going! Next week will bring more of the 33 Day Challenge and the Tri-Polish Challenge is back! Yay! (:
Here are upcoming prompts for the 33 Day Challenge:
And today's song:
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!
Fun fact! This is my 50th post! Holy poop, that came around quickly haha! But I'm back today with day 12 of the 33 Day Challenge! I can't tell if this challenge is flying by or dragging on haha. I've been feeling a little "nail art tired out" but I'm getting back on my game! It might just be because I'm struggling with the Europe prompt that's coming up.....anyone want to help an American gal out? (;
Anyways, it's Friday, I'm happy, on to today's nails!!
I painted a tissue box pattern on my nails! Woo! Tissues! I think I did these while I was really sick so I suppose it was fitting at the time haha.
Today is my first day back to classes in over a week and let me tell you, I am so not happy about it. It's only 1 class but still, I enjoyed my couple of days with no responsibilities. Only about a month until Thanksgiving break haha.
Anyways, on to the nails!
More classy nails! I feel like I use the word "classy" too much.....hmmm, how about sophisticated? Eh
It's Wednesday! I don't have class but I'm going to the Graphic Design capstone presentations which means that I have to be up and ready by 8am......gross. I've had the past 2 days to get caught up on all my school work and blog things, but truthfully, I've done nothing.....whoops. Anywho, 33 day challenge is back today!
Here are my nails!
STUDS! I love studs and I love these nails! Woo, happy!!
I don't have class today! Woo! It's nice to be back in Albany, and I can finally paint my nails again! Also, Hey, Darling Polish! is 2 months old today! Woo! I don't really have much to say other than that so I'm going to get right to the nails!
My first attempt at galaxy nails! I love these so much, I'm not sure what took me so long to actually try painting galaxies.
I'm back from my trip!! My blogging isn't totally back to normal yet, the time of my posts will be back but I'm still exhausted, so I'm writing this quickly before I go to sleep. I was falling asleep the whole plane ride back and then took a nap the minute I got back to my apartment haha (we jumped time zones, which I've never done before). I'm so excited that I have no obligations the next 2 days other than the blog, I can sleep! (:
But ANYWAYS, today is day 10 of the 33 Day Challenge!
Flowers! Do they look like flowers to you? I tried doing something different and I'm not quite sure it translated well /:
We finished up week 3 of the 33 Day Challenge and I'm really happy with everything I've posted this week! I tried more free-handing designs and used plenty of sparkles. I also showed Love, Angeline'sTea' Lite on the blog!
I apologize for all of my posts being so short but volunteering at the conference is a lot of work and really exhausting. I'm having an amazing time, but I really just want to paint my nails! Ugh! Haha.
The 33 Day Challenge continues on next week, and here are the prompts:
Today's song:
Marina And The Diamonds - How To Be A Heartbreaker
Sorry again for a short post but I get back to New York on Sunday!
It's Friday! Woo! I haven't been to class since Tuesday but....I can still be excited that it's Friday haha! Today is day 2 of my conference and once again I'm writing this post super late, 1:40am to be exact. Day 1 was amazing, I heard some great talks, met new people, and even met some famous designers that I've studied in class (Hello Michael Bierut!) Anyways, today is day 9 of the 33 Day Challenge!
On to the nails!
Today's theme was Indian nails so I choose to go with a Native American idea!
Today is Thursday, which means that its the first day of my convention! I'm super pumped (and tired eh). It's really nice to meet other designers and actually get to talk to other people besides my class mates. But once again, I'm writing this post super late (2:45am)...whoops. I haven't had a chance to write my posts ahead of time since I still have homework to do on top of all the conference stuff ):
ANYWAYS, I really like today's nails so enough complaining!
Isn't it so pretty!? The gradient kind of matches my blog's accent colors. Cool!
I'm back again with a quick post of day 8 of the 33 Day Challenge. Sorry about the quick posts lately but here's a run down of how my day went yesterday (Tuesday):
Pulled an all-nighter doing homework
Took a midterm that I studied for 30 minutes before the exam
Did my homework for my 3rd class, during the class
Left directly from class to head to the airport
Sat at the airport for an hour
Flew 2 and 1/2 hours from Albany to Chicago
Sat in the Chicago airport for 3 hours
Flew an hour from Chicago to Minneapolis
Took a light rail train for almost a half hour
Then walked 8 blocks to the hotel
It's 1:45am as I write this post, and I have to be up at 7am to get ready for my first day of volunteering. In the past 60 hours, I've gotten 3 hours of sleep. My apologies if I'm being a little cranky but my body is getting to the point where its like shutting down.
I have a super quick post for you guys today. I'm writing this at 5:50am, I just finished my video that is due for my 8am class. I haven't studied for my midterm today or done my homework due later day, and I'm not packed to leave for Minneapolis today! And I've only gotten 3 hours of sleep in the past like 48 hours! WOO! I'm great at time management!
Anyhow, I have pretty nails to show you today!
Stripes makes everything better! Right? Ehhhh, I'm a little sleep deprived....
It's Monday and I haven't slept in 24 hours! Woo! Note to self: stop leaving all projects to the last minute because midterms suck. Yeah sooooo that happened. Whoops. That's part of the reason this post is coming earlier than normal. Anyways, I'm back today with day 7 of the 33 Day Challenge! Woo!
Here are the nails:
I kept it simple but I really enjoyed these nails! I actually wore these for a few days, and by a few days I mean like 2....that's a long time for me haha
We wrapped up the 2nd week of the 33 Day Challenge, I was pretty happy with what I had to show this week. I tried tribal nails for the first time, it's definitely a style that I want to work on more. I also was really happy with my Mexican nails. I think the cacti were so cute! :3 I feel like my texture nails were a little ehh. I really don't like the look of textured polishes, there's like maybe 3 polishes that I would be interested in trying but other than those, NO THANKS! Hahaha
I also posted my first successful stamping/3 color gradient manicure! I really loved how those came out and I'm going to experiment with stamping more. My "fail" manicure of the week, I was still iffy on but a bunch of people had really nice feedback about them. So thank you guys so much! It makes me so happy (:
Next week continues the 33 Day Challenge, here are the prompts:
Also, I totally forgot that I'm going out of state starting Tuesday. I'll be heading to Minneapolis to volunteer at AIGA's (a national design organization) national conference! I'm so pumped! I'm going to try to be around the blog as much as I can, but I know for a fact that my posts won't be up at there usual times. Please just bear with me through the random times. I'll be gone from Tuesday-Sunday, but after I get back, I have 2 days off from school. So maybe I'll dedicate a day to getting back to the blog!
Thank you everyone!
Today's song!
Lorde - Royals
Once again, thanks for bearing with me through my "vacation" haha! Enjoy your day!
Take a guess at what day it is! FRIDAY! Wee! I might actually get the chance to sleep this weekend, I do have to drive halfway and meet my mom on Saturday. I left my only jacket at home, 2 and 1/2 hours away from school......uhhh whoops. I'm a little forgetful at times...
Anyhow, here are today's nails!
Today's prompt was texture. Yay? I think, ehhhh. I actually don't like textured polish.
We're halfway through the week! Yes! Today I'm showing a manicure that I have dubbed as a fail. I figure that I should show you guys everything, and because I want to prove to myself that sometimes you have to fail to grow......and I just got deep....sorry. Haha
Anyways! Here are the nails!
Not too bad, I guess. I like the base of the manicure! I should have just stopped haha.
I'm back today with the next manicure for the 33 Day Challenge. Also, it's Wednesday and for once I don't have any meetings to go to! I'm so excited, I'll probably spend all day on homework but I can sleep in late. I love my bed<3 (: hehe
Today is probably my least favorite day of the week! Yay. I'm running on no sleep and get to spend my day between class and shooting video for a project. But I'm really excited about these nails, so I'm just going to get right into the post!
Nails! Yay!
I STAMPED! You made me stamp, guys! (And that was my attempt at a bad Finding Nemo/nail art pun for a joke....ha....ha...meh).
